Our beautiful Florida summers are the height of the St. Augustine season. And those early summer mornings (before the heat hits us with surprising force) are the perfect excuse to strap on your running shoes and get to racing. The 34th Annual Bridge of Lions 5K is one of the city’s most popular races not only because it’s a great way to stay active in the middle of the summer, but also because it shows off some of the prettiest parts of the St. Augustine landscape. The race is almost upon us, so whether you’ll be behind the starting line or just cheering on the runners, here’s everything you need to know about the Bridge of Lions 5K.
The race will take place on Saturday, July 14 at 7:30am. Race day packet pick-up and registration will begin at 6am at the Castillo de San Marcos. You can also pick your packet up or pre-register on Friday, July 13 from 12-6pm at Funkytown Fitness.
Runners and walkers alike will start the race at the Castillo de San Marcos. The race will wind along the bayfront, pass over the Bridge of Lions, and through the Davis Shores neighborhood. The finish line will be at Oglethorpe Park on Anastasia Island. You can find a full course map here.
There will be water stations at the start, 1 mile, 2 mile, and finish. Digital time clocks will be viewable at the 1 mile, 2 mile, and finish.
AND ALL THE REST
From July 2-13, the entry fee is $30. Day-of registration is $35. A unique tech t-shirt, finisher’s medal, goody bag, and post-race refreshments are available for registrants. Size availability is only guaranteed if you are registered by July 1.
There will be free parking at the Castillo de San Marcos until 10:00 AM or near the finish line in Davis Shores. There is no transportation provided for runners between the start and finish. However, it is only about a half mile walk when taking a direct route.
Awards will be given to the overall male and female finishers as well as to the top three finishers in 15 different age categories.
