If you’ve ever cheered at a concert, browsed an arts market, or parked at Francis Field, then you already have a stake in what happens next and the City of St. Augustine wants to hear from you.
The City of St. Augustine Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), in collaboration with its consultant, Marquis, Latimer & Halback, Inc., is hosting a public workshop for the Historic Area Community Redevelopment Area (HACRA) Francis Field Improvement Project on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, from 3 to 7pm in The Alcazar Room at City Hall, 75 King Street. It’s an open-house format, so you can stop by whenever it works for your schedule, take a look at design concepts, and share your thoughts on one of St. Augustine’s most-used community gathering spaces.
Francis Field has long been the backdrop for some of the community’s biggest moments from spring festivals to the beloved Sing Out Loud Music Festival. It’s one of the city’s most sought-after event spaces, and with growing demand comes the need to plan for the future. The Francis Field Improvement Project focuses on supporting expanded use and long-term functionality, which means the decisions made in the coming months will shape how this space looks, works, and feels for years to come.
The workshop will have no formal presentation to sit through or agenda to follow. Simply show up, look at the concepts on display, and offer your feedback directly. It’s about as straightforward as civic engagement gets, and that’s a good thing. The people planning this project genuinely want to know what residents, business owners, and stakeholders think, and an open-house format means you can have a real conversation rather than just raise your hand in a crowd.
If you’re a business owner or event organizer who’s used Francis Field professionally, your perspective carries real weight here. You know firsthand how the space functions under pressure: what works, what creates bottlenecks, and what improvements would make a meaningful difference. Bring that knowledge with you on the 13th.
Mark May 13th, 2026, on your calendar, swing by The Alcazar Room between 3 and 7pm, and help make sure the future of this space reflects what St. Augustine residents actually want and need.
