The Great Gatsby is returning to Volkswagen of St. Augustine. Saturday evening, June 13, Volkswagen of St. Augustine is going back in time to the 1920s with their second annual Gatsby Affair charity event.
Volkswagen of St. Augustine owners, Joe and Sway DiFeo, are passionate about supporting local nonprofit organizations and the arts in St. Johns County, and are also artists and musicians themselves. This charity event is a way for the DiFeos to give back to the local music and arts community.
“We love living in St. Augustine and we love the sense of community here. We are blessed to a part of it and want to give back to this wonderful city in any way we can,” said Sway.
Last year’s inaugural Gatsby event raised $10,000 for local charities. This year’s beneficiaries are St. Augustine Community School of Performing Arts and St. Johns Cultural Council. These selected beneficiaries are active throughout St. Johns County furthering visual, literary and performing arts for students, the elderly and aspiring artists who may not otherwise have the ability to expand their creative outlets.
The event theme began as a shared idea of Sway and a friend. “We wanted to throw a party where everyone could have a great time while benefitting local charity organizations. We thought of the 1920s theme since it was such a wonderful and exciting era in our history,” Sway said.
Guests are encouraged to come dressed in theme, wearing 1920s attire. The evening event is set to include a live jazz band, heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, a silent auction, and professional photo opportunities with two authentic 1920s vehicles.
