As conversations around sustainability continue to grow, more shoppers are rethinking how they build their wardrobes. Rather than falling into the trap of fast fashion to keep up with the constantly evolving trends, many are turning to secondhand shopping to invest in higher-quality pieces that last and can be recirculated.
Starting in early 2025, Kate ViVenzio launched ViVid Reloved Clothing as a pop-up, setting up around town to buy and sell gently used items while giving shoppers a place to pass along pieces that no longer fit their style and discover lasting name-brand finds to add to their wardrobes. In May, the boutique found a permanent home sharing a space with Philosophie Salon at 25 Palmer St., becoming one of the newest additions to the West King area. With a larger space, the shop continues to accept gently used items, from statement pieces to everyday wardrobe staples. Consignors receive a percentage of each item sold, 50% for designer items and 30% for all other items, creating a win-win opportunity to clear out your closets while giving quality clothing a second life.
ViVid accepts items for resale consideration on Mondays from 2 to 6 p.m. Shopping hours are from 11 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The boutique is closed on Sundays. To be considered for resale, clothing should be clean, neatly folded, and free of heavy perfumes, oils, lint, and pet hair. While all sales are final, customers who purchase items from the shop can later consign them back to ViVid, allowing pieces to continue their lifecycle with a new owner. If an item remains unsold after one year, ViVid donates it to a local organization, and designer pieces are returned to the original consignor.
While the boutique is always looking for quality pieces to keep its curated shelves stocked, such as denim, dresses, activewear, accessories, and shoes, it regularly posts a “wish list” on social media so shoppers know the best time to bring in items that they’re ready to put back into circulation and give a new home. ViVid looks for brands such as Free People, Mother Denim, AG Jeans, Reformation, Madewell, Lululemon, Alo, Golden Goose, Citizens of Humanity, Tory Burch, Levi’s and much more.
