Possibly a once in a life-time opportunity, the U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sargeants will perform for FREE at The Saint Augustine Amphitheatre on Monday, October the 20th. Graciously presented by the Friends of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, no tickets required!
Based at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., The U.S. Air Force Band is the premier musical organization of the United States Air Force. The U.S. Air Force Band honors those who have served, inspires American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and positively impacts the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States of America.
The concert will include inspiring patriotic works, Broadway selections and instrumental and vocal features. Several Florida State University alumni will be performing on this tour. Chief Master Sgt. Michael Piersol, a 1995 FSU grad, is the noncommissioned officer in charge of the Concert Band, as well as the ensemble’s principal trombonist. Other FSU alums include trumpeter, Technical Sgt. Blakely Carroll Rosengaft (2004) and clarinetist, Technical Sgt. Sara Wollmacher (2009). Additionally, two instrumentalists from the Concert Band are native Floridians. Technical Sgt. Micah Killion, trumpeter, hails from Gainesville, Florida, and tubist, Technical Sgt. Daniel Walley, is originally from Niceville, Florida.
The Concert Band and Singing Sergeants travel together twice a year, representing the U.S. Air Force and our country as part of The United States Air Force Band. Last December, they teamed up with other members of the Band to perform a unique holiday flash mob at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum viewed by millions worldwide. Whether these groups are performing in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, throughout our great country or around the world, they are proud to represent all Airmen, whose selfless service and sacrifices ensure the freedoms we enjoy as American citizens.
