Perry Unwalla has been with State Farm for 30 years, but the last 21 years of his career have been in St. Augustine where he says he found his “true calling as an agent.” Perry says, “I love that I live and work in a pristine, unspoiled beach community where I can walk or bike almost anywhere. At my doorstep sits a 450-year-old downtown city, overflowing with her stories of the past…just paradise!”
It was in this paradise that Perry met his wife Sasha and where his family has bloomed. He says, “Sasha and I are surrounded by three beautiful children, twin girls Tatiana and Rainia (8), our son, Kai (5), and the greatest dog on earth, Rumi, a 10-year-old yellow lab.”
Part of Perry’s love of St. Augustine spills over into service for the community. He says, “I mentor a young man through the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program here in St Johns County. We also regularly work with Habitat for Humanity on homes in our area. And we are personally involved with providing, preparing, and serving meals at our local St. Francis House Shelter.”
When someone feels passion for their work, they excel at their highest level for themselves and those they serve. Perry says, “What I do is not work – it’s talking to people every day. I listen to their concerns, find out what they would like to protect, and show them thorough and affordable ways to do so. The favorite part of my career is meeting, learning from, and hopefully positively impacting people each day. Each person has an amazing story within, and I love learning something new from each individual I encounter.”
Of his partnership with State Farm, Perry says, “We always want to present the best team to help our clients. We have high standards and finding the right team players is not easy. We work hard, we have fun, and we are a family. We’re not perfect, but we have the right attitude, and I am truly fortunate to work with some amazingly talented people.”
