Sometimes you just crave a really good burger. We know the feeling. But with so many burgers out there to choose from, where can you go for one that’s a cut above the rest? That’s a question we find ourselves asking pretty frequently, so we decided to help with an answer. From unusual cheeses to datil peppers to a veggie burger in disguise, here are a few of the best burgers in St. Augustine.
PIMENTO CHEESE BURGER
The Cheese Wheel and Sandwich Board
223A West King Street
It doesn’t have to stray far from the classics to stand out. This sirloin burger is served on a potato roll and topped with freshly sliced tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, and the pièce de résistance – delicious, handmade pimento cheese.
PK SIGNATURE BURGER
119 St. George Street
There’s a reason that this burger is Prohibition Kitchen’s signature. It starts with a 1/2 lb of their special house blend short rib, brisket, and sirloin patty (already impressive). Then it’s topped with red onion jam, fried egg, and Red Dragon cheese.
926 Santa Maria Boulevard
Yes, there’s a serious reason that a veggie burger is on this list. The Impossible Burger tastes like a hamburger (and a delicious hamburger at that). But the Impossible Burger is made 100% meat-free, an entirely plant-based dish developed by scientists over at Impossible Foods. And Cheezees is the only one in the area to have it.
2 A Street
Just a few steps off the beach, you’ll find a pretty fancy burger being served up by the folks at Beachcomber. This Brie Burger is a 1/3lb. burger that’s chargrilled and topped with caramelized onion rings, horseradish bacon-aioli, melting brie, and baby greens.

The Press is the local burger expert, so it’s hard to choose just one burger on their menu. But we find ourselves partial to one that caters to the St. Augustine obsession with the datil pepper – The Datil Burger. It’s a ½ pound burger stuffed with a Datil pepper & scallion cream cheese and grilled to perfection.
