State of the Art Orthopedic Care in St. Augustine: Whether you’ve sustained a sports injury or old age is setting in, it can be difficult at times to admit that you need help. While we can generally pinpoint where in our body a pain is coming from, most often we do not know the cause or how to fix it.
That’s where Orthopaedic Associates of St. Augustine (OASA) comes in. OASA is the only multi-physician orthopedic practice in St. Johns County specializing in the care and treatment of bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, nerves and spine with dedicated hip, knee, hand, shoulder, back and foot doctors.
“The integration of physical therapy, MRI and the Surgery Center all allow for a seamless transition from initial diagnosis through treatment to resolution of the problem,” explains Dr. James Grimes, one of the founding orthopedic care physicians of the practice, which opened in 1999.
Today, Orthopaedic Associates of St. Augustine is comprised of Dr. Grimes and fellow founding physician, Dr. Albert Volk, as well as Dr. Kurtis Hort, Dr. Brian Haycook, Dr. John Stark, Dr. Sina Kasraeian, Dr. Casey McClone, Dr. Joshua Henry and Dr. Beth Pearce.
“Having multiple specialties allows for collegial interaction between physicians and helps provide state-of-the-art care across the specialty,” says Dr. Grimes.
With locations on the Flagler Hospital campus and CR-210, OASA offers an After Hours Injury Clinic open at night and on the weekend as well as Physical and Occupational Therapy and an Outpatient Surgery Center accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

OASA is focused on all-inclusive orthopaedic care, which makes it more convenient for the patient when they’re recovering or have an injury.
“Our practice covers all of the Orthopaedic Care at Flagler Hospital and the After Hours Injury Clinic provides easy access for urgent orthopaedic injuries,” explains Dr. Grimes. “We’re focused on continuing education and training, which allows our specialists to keep up with the most advanced techniques including sports medicine, computerized navigation, robotics and non-invasive treatment techniques.”
