St. Johns Golf Club will host the annual St. Augustine Amateur Golf Tournament benefitting The First Tee of North Florida from October 12 to 14. The St. Augustine Amateur was established in 2004 and has become an international event open to elite amateur and collegiate players.
This year, St. Augustine Amateur will be celebrating its 15th anniversary. The tournament is a walking only, 54-hole stroke play with 84 players who have earned their spot in the competition through invitation, application, or qualification.
“The Amateur has become a weekend-long, spectator event with great energy and good clean fun for golf enthusiasts of all ages,” explained Wes Tucker, Tournament Chairman for St. Augustine Amateur and Director of Golf at St. Johns Golf Club. “October is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the natural beauty of Northeast Florida.”
The First Tee of North Florida’s mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. In the last 14 years, St. Augustine Amateur has raised over $285,000 for The First Tee of North Florida.
