St. Johns County Beach Services to Offer Free Memorial Day Weekend Shuttles

St. Johns County beachgoers will have another way to get to the sand this Memorial Day weekend without fighting for a parking spot.

St. Johns County Beach Services will offer two free beach shuttles from Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25, helping reduce traffic congestion during one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year along the county’s beaches.

One shuttle will serve the St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier area, running from St. Augustine Beach City Hall, located at 2200 A1A South, to the Fishing Pier parking lot. A second shuttle will serve Mickler’s Landing Beachfront Park, running from Cornerstone Park, located at 1046 A1A North, to the Mickler’s parking lot.

Both shuttles will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day of the holiday weekend.

In addition to the shuttle service, beach safety staff and law enforcement will have an increased presence throughout the weekend. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, St. Augustine Beach Police Department, and St. Johns County Marine Rescue personnel will patrol the beaches. Marine Rescue lifeguards will be stationed along the beaches from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Beachgoers are encouraged to pay close attention to beach flags, which indicate water and surf conditions. County officials remind visitors that the absence of a flag does not mean there is no danger. Anyone unsure about current conditions should check with a staffed lifeguard tower.

On-beach driving will be permitted from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., conditions permitting. Drivers must remain in designated driving lanes, and beach access conditions may change throughout the day.

Residents and visitors can monitor daily beach driving updates by following @SJCBeaches on Facebook and X/Twitter, downloading the SJC Connect mobile app, or checking the Beach Services section of the St. Johns County website for access updates.

Beachgoers should also review the county’s full list of beach safety rules and regulations before heading out for the holiday weekend.
