St. Augustine High seniors honored with City Commission Citizenship Awards

Two St. Augustine High School seniors were recognized by the City of St. Augustine for their leadership, volunteer service and commitment to the community during the 2026 City Commission Citizenship Awards.

This year’s recipients, Greta Millard and Amelia Drysdale, each received a city lapel pin, commemorative plaque, parent certificate and a $500 award.

The annual award honors graduating seniors who demonstrate outstanding citizenship both on campus and throughout the community. Students are nominated through St. Augustine High School, with applications typically opening during the spring semester through school guidance counselors and faculty advisors. Organizers encourage interested juniors and seniors to begin documenting volunteer hours, leadership activities and community involvement early in the school year.

City officials said the award is intended to spotlight students who go beyond academics to make a lasting impact through service and leadership.

Greta was recognized for her involvement in National Honor Society, Interact Club, Link Crew and Psychology Club, as well as her leadership with the girls lacrosse program. She also serves as a youth elder at Memorial Presbyterian Church and completed 277 volunteer hours.

Amelia was honored for her work in National Honor Society, founding the school gardening club, participating in varsity softball and Marine Corps training programs, and organizing neighborhood cleanups and food drives. She completed more than 219 volunteer hours.

The city also plans to share profiles of previous Citizenship Award recipients as part of an ongoing effort to highlight how former honorees have continued serving their communities after graduation. Last year’s recipients went on to pursue college studies and community leadership opportunities while remaining active in volunteer service initiatives.

Families and community members who would like to verify recipient information or learn more about future nominations can contact St. Augustine High School administration or the City of St. Augustine’s communications office.
