Register for Summer Art Camps with The St. Augustine Art Association!

Summer is here and the kids are out of school…so now you’ve got to find some ways to entertain them. No one really wants to stick them in front of the television all day long, but sometimes that feels like the only option. Well no more, St. Augustinians! The St. Augustine Art Association‘s summer art camps are almost underway and registration is open! Your little ones can enjoy creating fun projects in painting, sculpting, drawing, and more with local artists and teachers. Five half-day weekly sessions are offered for grades 1 through 6 beginning on June 6.

QUICK CHANGE ARTISTS
SESSION ONE:  JUNE 6 – 10 (9am-Noon)
Resident artist Don Trousdell uncovers mysterious creatures that instantly change their looks to attract mates, find food or escape hungry predators. Students have fun experimenting with color and the art of optical illusion through 2D and 3D painting and fabrications.

ART RANGERS
SESSION TWO: JUNE 13 – 17 (9am-Noon)
Just in time for the 100th birthday of America’s National Parks, campers are celebrating with art, creating “plein air” paint and pastel landscapes, animal collages and cool Ranger gear for a field trip adventure.

OUTTA THE BOX
SESSION THREE: JUNE 13 – 17 (1 – 4pm)
Calling young architects, builders and sculptors. Break out of the box in this 3D construction project assembling Picasso-inspired cubist sculptures of buildings, people, animals, vehicles and more using cardboard, paints and found materials.

STITCHES, WITCHES & WIZARDS
SESSION FOUR: JUNE 20 – 25 (9am – Noon)
Needles, fabric and thread never looked so wickedly good.  Inspired by the fantasy world of the Wizard of Oz, this magical journey in quilting, mixed media and fiber art just might cast a spell on “munchkin” artists.

CIRCQUE DE C’LAY
SESSION FIVE: JUNE 27 – JULY 1 (9am – Noon)
It’s a three-ring circus in this camp! Students create fun and fanciful characters and props using clay, wire and mixed media. Imaginations will soar under the big top of this Calder-inspired art extravaganza.

SUMMER ART CAMP EXHIBIT
Camp concludes in July with a whimsical display of works produced by all of the young artists.
