The premier issue of St. Augustine Social has been 10 years in the making. And it’s finally here. What once was an idea thought up in my meager single-girl condo and dreamed about on Andrew and I’s first date, is now being printed on glossy paper as I type this. It’s actually a cute story how it all came about and you’ll get the full back story in my Editor’s Note in the issue.
Our mission is to celebrate life and style in St. Augustine and serve our community as thought leaders. We discover interesting stories and interpret St. Augustine’s unique culture in a way that uplifts, educates and enlightens invested St. Augustinians. We are a curated escape from the chaos of the everyday. We live to create breathtaking imagery and engage in a warm, playful dialogue that promotes our town and the talent, commerce, food flavors, and top tastemakers that live here.
Today, I’m most excited to share with you our very first cover!
Photographed by Zach Thomas (who has been a long friend of mine and was our wedding photographer) and styled by one of the most stylish women in St. Augustine, Tara Ferreira… we collaborated together to create a fashion pictorial that fit in St. Augustine. I mean… we’re not Vogue and this isn’t New York City, but St. Augustine has places to go and people to see too and being the best dressed is never a bad thing. We shot on location at Bonne and Greg Jones house in Davis Shores and partnered with Off 5th by Saks Fifth Avenue at the St. Augustine Outlets to give you some inspiration on what to wear for the upcoming holiday party season. Our models were all local residents and that gorgeous cover model is Hillary Childs, a 5th grade teacher at R. B. Hunt Elementary.
In this issue you’ll see the most gorgeous beach house on A street, an expansive Christmas gift guide, meet local jewelers, get the back story to the artwork and interior design behind the new Mellow Mushroom and so much more.
Trust us, you’ll want to subscribe early and get this beautiful special interest piece of literature delivered right to your door the first week of December. (You can do that here). We’re not the type of magazine that you’ll find stacked up on every corner in town for free. While you will find us at a few select locations complimentary and over 150 retailers throughout St. Johns County, we write to someone who wants the good stuff delivered to them and doesn’t want to go looking for it. For just $10 a year you get just that.
Andrew and I (and our entire staff) are so thankful for the overwhelming support the community has shown us and can’t wait for you to see it.
