Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort is proud to present the Second Annual “Cocktails + Canvases” event at the luxury oceanfront resort this Veteran’s Day weekend November 11-12, 2017. In partnership with the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, guests will embark on an immersive journey filled with a fusion of visual arts, creative cocktails and culinary explorations all in an elegant seaside setting. This vibrant weekend is a one-of-a-kind experience that artists, collectors and foodies alike won’t soon forget.
Designed for travelers who desire a captivating and creative getaway, this year’s “Cocktails + Canvases” weekend is anticipated to top the inaugural event with an impeccable mix of destination exploration and intellectual art-focused activities. Saturday’s Main Event is guaranteed to awaken guests’ creative spirit. Guests enjoy an artist meet and greet reception before ending the night at the highly anticipated “White Canvas Dinner,” where Executive Chef Daven Wardynski dazzles with an artfully-inspired multi-course culinary adventure featuring artwork by renowned multi-media artist, Casey Matthews. In addition to, Matthews masterpieces, attendees can also peruse the intricate ceramic pieces crafted by Ginny Foxworth of the family-operated Fernandina Clay.
Sunday morning, visitors can experience the Art of Breakfast in the resort’s beloved Sunrisé Café, where they’ll find breakfast fare, combining national trends with regional flavors, including signature maple-blueberry sausage, cheeses, and curated meats, as well as infused honey straight from the resorts own apiary. Walk off these incredible dishes by visiting the finale of the weekend, at the local Art Market in The Shops of Amelia Island, hosting cocktail booths and lively music.
This year’s featured artists include:
Casey Matthews: Although a native of San Antonio, Texas, Casey has considered the Southeast her home for the past two decades, living and working on Amelia Island. Her work is primarily mixed media painting, a process of layered acrylic paint, medium, gesso, charcoal, glazes, washes, handmade paper, collage, tissue, spit and oil on canvas sealed with a layer of polished wax.
Ginny Foxworth: Based in Fernandina Beach, Ginny handles the day-to-day tasks at the family-operated Fernandina Clay studio. The small batch ceramic studio specializes in making pottery and prints that celebrate coastal life. Every pot is one-of-a-kind and made for those who want to slow down and notice the details that make life precious.
