Naked sushi — it’s really not as racy as it sounds. Do you go to the beach? Okay then you have seen worse. Though the true form of naked sushi, Nyotaimori, involves sushi or sashimi served on a naked woman, Kingfish Grill‘s event is a little less risqué.
At Kingfish Grill the two young women wear bikinis and then banana leaves are laid out over their body as a place for the sushi to be served, no skin contact whatsoever. There is also a large table between them with at least a hundred pieces at a time of different sushi rolls set out. If you don’t feel comfortable picking up a California Roll off of the ladies, just grab from there.
The event tickets are $40 and the food is all you can eat. In addition to the rolls an assortment of other Japanese dishes are served such as: smoked salmon, seared tuna, octopus sunomono (salad), seaweed salad and more. There is also a cash bar so you can enjoy a cocktail with your meal overlooking the Camanchee Cove and intercostal from the top deck. Make sure you don’t miss the Shooter Spoons, they are an excellent flavor with the combination of citrus, jalapeño and tuna — yum! A variety of cake pops are served for dessert with flavors like green tea, coconut and strawberry.
Sushi Chef Austin has been making sushi for 27 years, for two of those he has been with Kingfish Grill hosting the Naked Sushi events. Everything that you see at Naked Sushi is just a taste of what they have to offer in the restaurant. If you enjoy the mix of Japanese dishes come back and order the Omakasa another night. Omakasa translates to “chef’s choice” and costs from $50-$200, depending on how many people and the desired portion size. Chef Austin will include items like: tuna shooters, sashimi, smoked salmon, seared tuna, octopus salad, and of course sushi rolls.
