Nestled in a lush, 20,000-acre nature preserve between Hilton Head Island and Savannah, Montage Palmetto Bluff, in partnership with the town of Bluffton, South Carolina, has proudly announced that it will host the May River Music Festival, a weekend event dedicated to bringing singers and songwriters together along the banks of the majestic May River. The inaugural festival debuts September 20-21, 2019 with live performances by legendary artists on Friday and Saturday night. A weekend of music in a gorgeous Lowcountry retreat, this is the perfect festival for St. Augustinians who just need a mini vacation (and who were admiring the beauty of the Montage property in our August/September issue).
Montage Palmetto Bluff boasts miles of trails lined with lush greenery and ancient oaks to walk, run and bike through; activities such as kayaking, canoeing or paddle boarding on pristine waterways through avian sanctuaries and amongst vast wildlife; and amenities including the May River Golf Club and Palmetto Bluff Shooting Club. It never fails to charm its guests with a bounty of natural, historical and cultural experiences indigenous to the South Carolina coast. Here, where the May River mingles with the Atlantic, guests enjoy active and relaxing pursuits amid a breathtaking waterfront, lush woodlands, Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, vibrant village, spa, restaurants, guest rooms, cottages and homes — all of which work hand-in-hand with Southern tradition and genuine hospitality.
The May River Music Festival lineup kicks off Friday, September 20, Under the Stars at Moreland Village with Nashville’s Clare Bowen and Brandon Young taking the stage at 7pm, followed by acclaimed singer-songwriter and Irish music legend Foy Vance at 8pm. The festival continues on Saturday, September 21, at the Village Green with unforgettable performances by international soul artist Lele Rose at 7pm and American singer, songwriter Ben Rector at 8pm. Gates open at 6pm on Friday and Saturday night, and will feature a variety of food and beverage options for festival-goers to enjoy.
In celebration of the inaugural May River Music Festival weekend, Montage Palmetto Bluff invites guests to stay overnight at the resort with special room rates available to ticket holders. In addition to enjoying festival performances on Friday and Saturday night, all registered resort guests and members can come a night early and receive access to a complimentary evening of live musical performances from 7to 11p.m. on Thursday, September 19, at the River House.
Friday night tickets are $68, Saturday night tickets are $78, and a Weekend Ticket for both evenings is $135. All tickets are general admission and subject to a convenience charge, with a percentage of the proceeds benefitting the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy. Attendees must be 21 years or older.
