Mary Lourdes-Saenz began her journey of helping young women after having an impactful encounter with a teen mom in foster care. She knew then that she needed to do something to help other young women in the foster care system; that everyone needs the love and support necessary to thrive, and when we receive the proper support through community, and mentorship, it helps us get there. Mary brings this perspective and support to young women in need.
Mary’s outreach program, Sisters-in-Arms, provides training and mentorship to young women who are aging out of the foster care system and entering the world. With the help of her business partner, Steph McFee, Mary has created a community of professional women who meet these young ladies where they are, assisting them through beneficial aid programs, supporting them with effective counseling, and believing in them until they find the strength to believe in themselves. The “360 Approach” at Sisters-in-Arms is a holistic support system designed to empower women through every stage of their transition to independent life. Rather than focusing on just one aspect of integration into society, this comprehensive model addresses career development, mental health, financial stability, and community connection. By providing mentorship, peer support, and access to vital resources, the 360 Approach ensures that no young woman is left navigating this journey alone. “It’s about providing young women with the tools, skills, and guides needed to empower them, allowing these women to realize that success and happiness is within their grasp.” says Mary
