The owner of Market Street Boutique, Kimberly Patalano, does not have the “born and raised” tale we so frequently hear in our small city. In fact, it wasn’t until her sophomore year of high school that Kimberly and her family came to Florida. After moving from Dallas, Texas and spending a few years exploring our state, Kimberly earned her nursing degree, and she and her husband made their way to the Nation’s Oldest City.

At the time, Kimberly was running a Web Design business – her idea for the Market Street Boutique wasn’t her first creative avenue! With twin sons, a daughter, and an affinity for golf keeping her busy, she made the decision not to practice nursing in the family’s new town.

So how does a mother of three, with a nursing degree and a background in web design, come to open not one, but two, of the most consumer-friendly gift shops in St. Augustine? As anyone with an eye for trends and a knack for crafting knows, it’s easy to get carried away! With a garage filled to the brim with chalk paint and refurbished furnishing gems, Kimberly realized it was time to find a bigger space to support her new habit.

In true “American Dream” fashion, Kimberly decided to take a leap. She knew that her product was a hot trend, so she found a short-term lease on Market Street and began selling her furniture. After just a few short months, one of Kimberly’s employees suggested adding the always-irresistible Volcano Candles to their inventory.

This addition paved the way for a carefully curated selection of home goods, furnishings, and gifts to create the Market Street Boutique our community has come to know and love. While Kimberly says that learning what people want is the biggest challenge for her growing business, she has fine-tuned a market St. Augustine didn’t even know it was missing!

Keep an eye out for all of the goodies still to come at Market Street’s two locations: 159 Palencia Village Drive and 841 South Ponce de Leon Boulevard #7. Shop online at the Market Street Boutique website.
