Aspiring artists and photographers, this one’s for you: Marineland Dolphin Adventure and Ocean Art Gallery have come together for an Arts & Culture Workshop Series, offering classes on photography and acrylic painting taught by two of the area’s top artists.
Professional artist Stewart Maxcy leads the acrylic painting workshop sessions at Marineland and along the Intracoastal Waterway. Also a well-known educator, Maxcy prefers his students learning through laughter, and aims to teach people to continue making art without an instructor through his simple step-by-step painting method. This workshop includes the selection of a painting location in the natural setting of Marineland, learning Maxcy’s techniques, plus an afternoon critique and art show.

Ed Siarkowicz, the award-winning photographer whose work can be found in the offices of politicians like former President George W. Bush, teaches the photography workshops. He works not only with photography skills, but editing and photo composition as well. Attendees will practice by taking photographs of the surrounding wildlife at Marineland, then have an editing and photo processing session in an on-site classroom.
Both Maxcy and Siarkowicz have work in the Ocean Art Gallery, which is in partnership with Marineland in hosting the Arts & Culture Workshop series. The four-hour courses are open to everyone ages 16 and up; artistic and photography skills not required.
The Arts & Culture Workshop series goes through the end of 2015, happens twice a month and alternates between the photography and acrylic painting class. Each workshop is $149 plus tax. The price includes access to Marineland Dolphin Adventure, guidance from professional artists, and a pass good for one free Touch and Feed dolphin interactive program.
