The St. Johns County Center for the Arts at St. Augustine High School is lauded for the outstanding talents of its students. The program is led by an equally impressive teacher with his own artistic prowess. Jeff Dodd, the Director of the St. Johns County Center for the Arts, is an educator who found his love for music when he was a middle school student.
It wasn’t long after this discovery when he found his true calling. “In high school, I discovered that I wanted to teach music. I just knew it was something that I wanted to do,” says Jeff with a nostalgic smile. Jeff pursued his interest in music after high school by attending Western Kentucky University, where he graduated with a degree in Music Education. Jeff has taught at St. Augustine High School for thirty-three years. In that time he has been given the honor of imparting both wisdom and pride in the lives of hundreds of students.
“I tell my students every day” Jeff shares, “that I’m teaching them music, but it’s not just about music. It’s about being good people and finding out who they are inside so they can share that good will with the whole world.”
