Fireworks Over the Matanzas is one of the biggest and best fireworks displays on the east coast, featuring 5,000 individual shells exploding as high as 2,000 feet and as low as 100 feet in the air.
The July 4th celebration will kick off at 6pm in the Plaza de la Constitución with a two hour concert featuring local band, The All-Star Orchestra. They will perform a two-hour show of big band and swing music along with patriotic favorites.
The concert is free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
After the concert, head on over to the Castillo de San Marcos monument for a truly spectacular display of fireworks. The 20 minute show is choreographed to sync with a soundtrack of patriotic music over an extensive sound system that carries over the entire bayfront.
St. Augustine has been putting on the spectacular fireworks display for two decades, lighting up the sky over the Matanzas Bay with Castillo de San Marcos and the Bridge of Lions in the foreground. It is an unforgettable experience for families to enjoy together to celebrate our nation.
Rerouting of traffic will begin at 8pm and continue until 11pm and includes prohibited vehicular traffic on the Bridge of Lions, Avenida Menendez, Cathedral Place and S. Castillo Drive. Parking in city-owned lots and in on-street spaces will be free on that Monday, as it is on all federal holidays. Alcohol is prohibited on public property, including parks, streets, and sidewalks.
