Over the river and through the woods of Marsh Creek Country Club you’ll go to find this beautiful oasis tucked just far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to it all. Home to two retirees from Pittsburgh, it brings just the right amount of big city to a small beachy town. Judy and John Foley have a very distinct style: clean and modern. It’s apparent as soon as you walk up to their custom designed solid mahogany front doors. On the outside, their home fits nicely into the aesthetic of Marsh Creek giving off the perception of a typical patio style Florida home. But the front doors tell a story that says “something is different about this particular home.” And they are so right.
The Foleys moved to St. Augustine full time in 2009 for a warmer climate and warmer hearts. Their only daughter and son-in-law, Araan and Doug Burnett live here so it was obvious that St. Augustine would be the next place to call home. It’s a far stretch from the big city, high rise condo they’re used to living in, so to make it feel more like home, they brought much of the city with them in the design elements. And they didn’t miss a beat.
When you enter, if you’re not completely awestruck by the endless views of the marshland, you immediately see outside of the living room windows…. it’s the clean lines, modern artwork and simplistic style that will take your breath away. The quality of construction and commercial grade details make the home feel like a 5-star resort.
We sat down with Judy just before she started decorating for Christmas and got the 411 on how this beautiful house all came together and what her secret sources are…
