Hugh Do You Know: Dancer and Actress Leah Kaelin

At only eight years old, Leah Kaelin already has an impressive resume. A dancer with local studio 3NMOTION and contracted with Jacksonville based talent company, Premier Talent, Leah has appeared in two commercials – one for Legoland and one for a chain of home improvement stores. Born in St. Augustine, she intends to someday attend Flagler College (like her dad), and when she’s not on screen, she plans to save the world by cleaning up the oceans and beaches to save the animals.

Hugh Ward: What’s your connection to St. Augustine?
Leah Kaelin: My connection to St Augustine is that I was born here and will continue to live here and maybe go to Flagler college, as well. My dad graduated from there, from the Arts Program.

What training do you have?
The training I have is from 3NMOTION Dance Studio. Attending the dance studio has taught me hip hop, jazz, tap, acrobatics, and ballet. The training I have for commercials is just being myself and always trying to make people laugh, which makes them smile.

What’s your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of dancing is ballet and hip hop. I like the movements and the music. Doing commercials is fun. I get to be front of the camera, and everyone is really nice too.

How long did it take to perfect your craft?
2 years. It felt natural for me, but I know I will need to continue to work hard to be even better.

Where do you get your ideas?
From my imagination. I have a really big one.

How big is your team?
My team is my dance teachers and friends at 3NMOTION Dance Studio and, of course, my mom, dad, and poppy. They always support me and encourage me to do my best but of course have fun and smile.

Who are your local favs?
The Alligator Zoo, Saint Augustine Beach, and going downtown. My favorite places to eat are South Beach Grill and Mayday Ice Cream. My fun place is going to Push Push Salon to get my hair washed and cut.

What would you like see happen in Saint Augustine?
More things for kids to do like a indoor jumping arena with a rock climbing wall and water park.

How can you make the world a better place?
I will help clean up oceans and beaches of trash to save the animals.
