It did not take husband and wife Matt and Nicole Neville long within their careers to figure out how they could turn their passion for the St. Augustine community into a business of their own, and so they set their sights on a new concept, Heat Beaters, LLC. Both born and raised here, the Nevilles looked to create something of a legacy for their family, but also do meaningful work that would positively affect and offer comfort to the lives of others.
Having experienced the ins and outs of the heating and air industry for more than 12 years, Matt decided it was time to venture out on his own. One thing that really struck him was the lack of innovation and technology used throughout the field, and he thought this was something he could certainly deliver to customers if he had the opportunity to do so on his own terms. He knew this would be a growing process and he was determined to make that happen. Just about five years ago, in 2019, Matt brought the idea to his wife Nicole and she backed him 100% knowing his talent and passion for people was going to be a great fit. Just like that, the two founded Heat Beaters and brought the idea to fruition. As their main business principle, Heat Beaters is committed to a small, family-like culture and mentality when helping customers. The entire concept was based around keeping it local and personable so customers know whom they’re calling and consulting with, rather than a large company and a 1-800 number where they may get lost in the mix of things. This was especially important to Matt and Nicole since the two locals genuinely care about their family, friends and neighbors. They wanted to ensure they created something they could be proud of and offer the people and area surrounding them a positive quality, and not just for the masses. Currently, Matt, Nicole, and Matt’s brother Travis are the team at Heat Beaters.
“We want people to know that when they call us they’re speaking with myself (Matt) or Nicole, or my brother Travis, and that is who is going to come greet them at their house or business, and help them out for service,” says Matt. “We care about the work we do, and the people we help and we want to keep that reputation,” says Nicole. Residential projects being their primary focus, with some smaller commercial projects, Heat Beaters offers everything surrounding heat and air conditioning, including product sourcing, installation, and routine maintenance, in addition to repairs and emergency help. Most would agree that few things frighten Floridians more than the lack of air conditioning in the summer’s heat (or other seasons for that matter). Joking aside, the realities of a broken AC unit in summer can be daunting, dangerous, and even deadly. Heat Beaters knows how important it is to be comfortable and safe in your own home and they are no stranger to calls of desperation come the months of high heat – which they are there to … you guessed it, beat.
“It might sound kind of silly but I do love being the hero that people are happy to see when making a house call late at night or first thing in the morning. People are frantic that their AC unit has broken in such bad timing and I am always so happy to be able to solve a problem like that for them. They have access to my direct line and I make myself as available as possible,” says Matt. They also take the guesswork out of maintaining the home and small business systems by utilizing an internal technology system that alerts them when it is time for maintenance – that way you do not have to. No keeping track or wondering if your filters need to be swapped, Nicole handles that for you and will reach out to schedule a day that works for you when it’s time. A simple biannual membership keeps things organized and offers customers peace of mind.
“We work with customers to do exactly what is best for them. Whether they want a completely new system or if they are trying to extend the life of their current one, we can do just that because we are a small company. Our pricing is fair and we are always transparent with the customer, listening to their needs and meeting their goals. We’re willing to take the extra time with people to make sure the entire experience is curated and personalized,” says Nicole. When he’s not beating the heat, you may recognize Matt, and the whole family out on the ball fields and he coaches Little League for Junior Minors Baseball and Majors Softball. Family is first when it comes to Heat Beaters, whether it be yours or their own, it’s something they live by in both their personal and professional lives. Their three school-aged children get a close look at hard work and ownership through their entrepreneurial parents, and yet another generation of possible St. Augustinian business owners goes on. “Ever since a young age, I have always tried to keep pushing toward doing more and being more. When it comes to air conditioning there really is not anything we cannot fix with quality talent who cares. At a small company like Heat Beaters, we have the ability to make things possible without limitations, and that’s why I really love what we do at this.
