Giving Back with United Way of St. Johns County at the 2019 Givers Gala

When the inaugural Givers Gala was imagined, it was with an understanding that United Way of St. Johns County should celebrate the strong spirit and history of giving in St. Johns County. Artifacts or personalities of the past are integral in the First Coast story, but equally important is our history of giving. Seeded in a tradition of generosity, this is a legacy that continues today. And it will continue now with the 2019 Givers Gala.

The 2019 Givers Gala will take place on Friday, January 25 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton on St. Augustine Beach. The event will begin at 6pm. This new and stunning seaside venue will play host to live music, delicious food, and a celebrity auctioneer. A luxurious night to remember, this gala will celebrate the givers of St. Johns County. A limited number of tickets to the event are still available at $175 per person. A few larger sponsorship opportunities are still available as well.

The proceeds from the event will support the mission of the United Way of St. Johns County. Serving St. Johns County for over 60 years, in the 2017-18 fiscal year, the local United Way documented $1.4 million in giving – including $621,000 granted to 26 partners for 36 ongoing programs during the traditional spring community impact process. Additional funding, grants, and sponsorships totaled nearly $78,000. Fundraising efforts led to collecting and distributing $323,000, designated for specific organizations, programs or needs, in our community. As for the need created by Hurricane Irma, $146,000 was pushed out in response. UW-SJC advocated for awards and grants and has been the fiscal agent for the Long-Term Recovery Organization for both Hurricane Matthew and Irma. This beautiful fundraising gala will support all these efforts and more.
