Ever since we were little kids, we all dreamed of being cowboys. Those cool nights in the plains huddled around a fire, gazing at the stars and those days of cattle rustling and riding horses in the Western dust were the center of many an afternoon playtime. Well for those who didn’t hitch up a wagon and set out West to make their fortune, INK (Investing in Kids) has the next best thing – and it’s all for a good cause!
For the third year in a row, INK invites you to fulfill your cowboy dreams by attending the Boot Scootin’ BBQ. The event is INK’s primary yearly fundraiser, supporting their work to provide aid to local teachers and students in the St. Johns County school system.
This western-themed event includes good old-fashioned BBQ by pitmasters Mojos BBQ Old City and Smokin D’s BBQ. Refreshments will be provided by Burkhardt Sales & Service and other locals. Listen to your favorite country and classic rock renditions by Paper City Hustlers. Saddle up on a mechanical bull lassoed by Old City Life Magazine, play interactive games, and give us your best cowboy pose in a photo booth by Leonards. Bid on auctions, prizes and more.
Cow Pie Bingo, hosted by Rype & Readi Farm Market, will be played in a grassy field painted into squares and with just one important figure—number two. The stars of the show—two well-fed cows—will emerge from a trailer and roam a numbered grid. Bidders guess where the cow will do their mooo-vements for education and will win prizes.
The event will be held on Saturday, September 30 at St. Augustine Rod & Gun Club from 7-11pm. Early bird tickets are $65 (the price will later rise to $75) and include a BBQ dinner, two drink tickets, and a raffle ticket. Tickets are $45 for teachers, BNI members and their guests, and nonprofit staff. Sponsorship packages are offered from $250. Attendees must be 21 years or older.
