The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation has been in existence for 30 years, enriching the lives of children with special needs through the sport of fishing. They empower families and communities to celebrate children with special needs, making these children feel valued and loved so they can overcome limitations and be successful.
On April 7th, C.A.S.T for Kids will host their first event in St. Johns County and they have openings for 40 special needs children to partici.pate in a fun-filled day of fishing for free.
C.A.S.T for Kids stands for Catch A Special Thrill. The children they serve are ages 6-18. The foun.dation helps to spread a positive message that kids with disabilities can accomplish anything, despite their limitations. This is all made possible through national and local sponsors, special in.terest groups and community members who want to make a big difference in the lives of children with special needs and disadvantages.
During the event, participants and caretakers are paired with volunteers for a fun day of boating and fishing, which they may not otherwise get to experience. It’s a great chance for these children to be celebrated, and for caretakers to leave their problems on shore to enjoy a day of fun on the water. The event helps these kids gain confidence and learn something new. The children over.come their limitations and realize that anything is possible for them.
