On the first Friday of every month, St. Augustine’s art galleries welcome visitors to browse the latest art exhibits and enjoy refreshments and live entertainment at more than 25 participating galleries. For lovers of local art and culture, the First Friday Artwalk is a great way to celebrate both the start of a new month and the end of a long week. Spend your time hopping from gallery to gallery in the downtown area or jump on a complimentary shuttle and check out the galleries on the beach. But wherever you decide to spend your time, here’s what’s new at the September 7, 2018 First Friday Artwalk.
Endless Summer at The Gallery Group
Come by and see The Gallery Group for their end of summer art bash. Mingle amongst the artists and the art, have a cool beverage, and enjoy! Featured artists will be Sam Kates, Lyne St Amand, Pam Geiger, Shari Little, Laine Quinn, Jewelry Artists Teri Blasczkiewicz, and Kathryn Carlyle.
Jiha Moon at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum
Atlanta-based artist Jiha Moon will give an artist talk on the occasion of her exhibition, “Double Welcome, Most Everyone’s Mad Here,” on view at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum at Flagler College. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Jiha Moon harvests cultural elements native to Korea, Japan, and China and unites them with Western elements to investigate the multi-faceted nature of our current global identity as influenced by popular culture, technology, racial perceptions, and folklore. The talk will begin at 4pm with a reception to follow.
Fall Members Show at the St. Augustine Art Association
The opening reception of the STAAA Fall Members Show will take place at September’s First Friday Artwalk. The show is an exhibit of works in varied styles, media, and subjects created by members of STAAA. The Clark & Alice Alger Artistic Excellence Award will be presented.
Margaret Juul at Sea Spirits Gallery
Sea Spirits Gallery is delighted to showcase the amazing artwork and design accessories of Margaret Juul. Enjoy a reception, meet the fabulous artist, and get some assistance in your home design ideas!
Debra Mixon Holliday at Butterfield Garage Art Gallery
