Spend your time hopping from gallery to gallery in the downtown area or jump on a complimentary shuttle and check out the galleries on the beach. But wherever you decide to spend your time, here’s what’s new at the October 5, 2018 First Friday Artwalk.
Celebrating Autumn at High Tide Gallery
Granite Lazy Susans, Pedestals and Original Paintings by Greg & Adrianna Lulkoski of St. Augustine will be featured for the month of October. Meet them this Friday evening during Artwalk! Also meet stained glass artist John Pacheco, word art photographer Beth Rutt, & more…You’ll also get to enjoy apple-honey and goat cheese crostini and crusted pumpkin wedges with sour cream, artfully-made by Steve Ryder!
Manon Sander at Lost Art Gallery
Lost Art Gallery is excited to feature Plein Air painter Manon Sander. The gallery will be exhibiting new images including local scenes recently painted on the streets of Saint Augustine. Join us to meet Manon and find that special painting that speaks to you!
During years spent studying oil painting under the tutelage of nationally known oil painters, Manon developed her own distinct style often described as “representational with an impressionistic touch.” Florida is a cornucopia of inspiration for this transplant from Germany. More important than the subject matter itself, is Manon’s goal to capture the effects of light and fleeting momentary impressions. Because she expresses this through her use of interesting patterns, luminous color, and luscious brush strokes, Manon continues to be accepted into exclusive painting events where she regularly receives awards and recognitions.
Ultimately, Manon aims to communicate her joie de vivre through paintings that reflect the color, light, and joy Manon feels surrounded by and is ever so grateful for.
Tactile Art at St. Augustine Art Association
The exhibit of all touchable art includes sculptures, woodworks, mixed media, ceramics, fiber pieces and interactive art created by professional and emerging artists. Each piece has a Braille sign in partnership with the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB). An awards ceremony will be held at the Artwalk at 7pm. The art will be on display throughout the evening.
Nancy Hamlin-Vogler at Butterfield Garage Art Gallery
Nancy’s passion for contemporary art is evident in her recent works on paper, rendering still life, figurative and landscape subjects in her signature intuitive, observational, gestural style, where she uses her favorite materials: acrylics, charcoal, pastels and pasted rice paper elements. The abstracted content of her work reflects her worldwide backpacking travels, summer vacations in Cape Cod and Maine, and her studies in Buddhism. You can see her new work at the Butterfield Garage Gallery art walk and listen to her talk at 6pm.
Autumn Art Pop-Up at The Gallery Group
Fall frenzy is upon us. The holidays are just around the corner. Come do a bit of early holiday shopping at The Gallery Group! Mix, mingle, enjoy some wine and art. Some new artists have been added to the gallery as well as a few favorites from last month!
