On the first Friday of every month, St. Augustine’s art galleries welcome visitors to browse the latest art exhibits and enjoy refreshments and live entertainment at more than 25 participating galleries. For lovers of local art and culture, the First Friday Artwalk is a great way to celebrate both the start of a new month and the end of a long week. Spend your time hopping from gallery to gallery in the downtown area or jump on a complimentary shuttle and check out the galleries on the beach. But wherever you decide to spend your time, here’s what’s new at the January 4, 2019 First Friday Artwalk.
Featured Artists of the New Year at Amistad
This Friday Amistad is celebrating the start of the New Year wishing you all a joyous, healthy and prosperous New Year. Explore the work of the featured artists Denis Pellerin, Cindy Wilson, and Kevan Breitinger, along with the beautiful artisan products from their fair-trade artisans from around the world. Enjoy live music with Gary Wingard from 6-8 pm, and complimentary wine tasting of new artisan wines from around the world all evening!
“Our Human Condition” at the St. Augustine Art Association
STAAA is excited to have a new, special exhibit going up to start 2019 – “Our Human Condition: Faces & Figures” – showing the faces of today and yesteryear, combining the current members’ artwork with pieces from the Permanent Collection. The opening will be at the January artwalk from 5-9pm. Awards will be presented at 7pm.
CARLYLEGIBBS Wearable Art at Butterfield Garage Art Gallery
This beautiful collection of jewelry is the result of a collaboration between two talented artists, Kathryn Carlyle and Cheryl Gibbs. Come meet the artists during the artwalk. They will be presenting an Artist Talk at 6pm to talk about their unique working relationship and the pieces that they create.
Kathie Camara at The Art Studio
The Art Studio is proud to present Kathie Camara, as their featured artist for the month of January. A reception at the gallery is planned during the First Friday Art Walk from 5:30-8pm. Plan to visit and meet Kathie and view her beautiful paintings.
New Year, New Energy at High Tide Gallery
What are you ready to attract into your life and home? Blue Lace Agate is a metaphysical healing stone that is great for activating and healing the Throat Chakra. Blue Lace Agate is a very supportive stone, promoting the acceptance of one’s emotions. This calming stone can help those who may be feeling depressed or worried and is believed to bring peacefulness. These stones will be featured at High Tide Gallery.
