On the first Friday of every month, St. Augustine’s art galleries welcome visitors to browse the latest art exhibits and enjoy refreshments and live entertainment at more than 25 participating galleries. For lovers of local art and culture, the First Friday Artwalk is a great way to celebrate both the start of a new month and the end of a long week. Spend your time hopping from gallery to gallery in the downtown area or jump on a complimentary shuttle and check out the galleries on the beach. But wherever you decide to spend your time, here’s what’s new at the February 1, 2019 First Friday Artwalk.
Last First Friday at The Gallery Group
Come join The Gallery Group for their last art show on first Friday at 7 Aviles Street. They’ll have two feature artists – Kathryn Carlyle and Joseph Paul Getchius. Don’ t miss this last chance to experience Aviles Street at the Gallery Group.
Manon Sander & Michelle Held at Lost Art Gallery
View the works of featured artists Manon Sander and Michelle Held, who will be exhibiting and selling their beautiful plein air paintings of St. Augustine. The gallery invites you to visit at Lost Art Gallery to experience these new creations of this ancient city.
Lorraine Millspaugh at Sea Spirits Gallery
Experience the live painting of the featured artist Lorraine Millspaugh. Her acrylic paintings of elegant Floridian birds are stunning creations painted with sentiment. The gallery invites you to come meet the artist, view her paintings and enjoy searching through our sea inspired treasures.
Black & Whites & Shades of Gray at St. Augustine Art Association
The absence of color is anything but dull in this striking and sophisticated exhibition that includes all artistic styles and a range of subjects and mediums, in variations of black, white and shades of gray. The exhibition opens at the First Friday Art Walk.
Jeanne Hollington at Plum Gallery
Head to Plum Gallery at the First Friday Artwalk to experience firsthand the beautiful, vibrant florals by Jeanne Hollington and the ancient techniques of master potter Worley Faver.
Gail Beveridge at Amistad
Gail Beveridge is an award-winning artist. Her oil paintings are exquisite, filled with soft light, and many nature and architectural views of St. Augustine. Meet the artist during Art Walk! Enjoy live music with Gary Wingard. Gary’s acoustic soft rock will bring a smile to your face! You can also taste Amistad’s selection of wines for Valentine’s Day.
Brenda Phillips at High Tide Gallery
Brenda Phillips of St. Augustine, who painted in oils as an Impressionist for 20 years before learning that French icon Claude Monet was her great grand uncle, debuts her first new collection of original oils since her retirement from gallery work in 2012. A show of nine framed St. Augustine scenes plus a raffle of another unframed original painting will take place at High Tide Gallery for the February 1st Artwalk.
Sydney McKenna at Butterfield Garage Art Gallery
To stand in front of one of Sydney McKenna’s paintings, the viewer is connected back to every moment he/she has been awed by the sky above. Her inspiration becomes ours, to contemplate and appreciate anew. Sydney McKenna’s Florida landscape paintings express the state’s atmosphere in a unique and poignant way. Come hear the artist talk about her work at 6pm.
