Fashion Making History: MODA Alcazar

Fashion Making History

It happened. For three days in September, the grand Lightner Museum played host to one of the most ambitious multiple day undertakings since, perhaps, the 450th Celebration or Gentleman of the Road. Sure, St. Augustine Fashion Week’s Moda Alcazar (so named because it was held in the former Hotel Alcazar) isn’t quite on the scale of those two events but the potential for this bi-annual showcase for original fashions from the Northeast Florida region (and beyond) is certainly on par with them.

Fashion Week Runway

STAFW’s first event last March, Runway on the Runway, garnered so much attention and created such a huge buzz that a bigger and better venue was vital to the growth and continued success of the event. When the Lightner came on board as the host of this innovative new platform for area fashion designers to display their creations, it was the perfect marriage of style and vision.

The result was nothing short of fabulous. For those three nights, the mezzanine level of the Alcazar Room was transformed into a runway worthy of some of the great design houses of the world (Armani in Auggie? Could happen if this keeps up!). Each night, the praises flowed from the lips of the attendees and the fashions met with glowing reviews. There was something for every one and it truly reflected the wealth of talent which our vibrant, diverse and eclectic corner of the world is proud to be home to.

Labels

As official media sponsors for STAFW, Old City Life was honored to help STAFW promote First Coast producers and designers in their quest to shine the light on these talented professionals. We can’t wait till the Spring Show!
