Interior design firm Punch Jones will host an in-studio exhibition of paintings by area artist Selena Kraft. The exhibit will open with a private reception October 13 and will be open to the public October 14-27. For the exhibit, Heidi Hall-Jones, owner and design principal for Punch Jones, will create interior vignettes centered around Kraft’s work. “The furniture will speak to the paintings,” says Hall-Jones, “and the paintings will speak to the furniture.”
The studio, a restored 1930s gas station, is divided into three showrooms, which flow into one another and will form the backdrop for the exhibit. “I’ve always loved the building,” says Kraft. “It’s been a dream come true working with Heidi to put this project together.”
The show will comprise approximately 14 of the artist’s pieces, ranging in scale from diminutive, intimate pieces to ambitious 10-foot canvases. According to Hall-Jones, there are a lot of layers to this exhibition, both physical and philosophical: “The artwork is layered, the showrooms are layered, the furniture is layered, the viewing experience will be layered… Putting this show together has been an interesting exercise, but it’s not all cerebral. There’s a lot of heart in it.”
The exhibition will run for two weeks at 4 Anastasia Boulevard in St. Augustine.
