The Lightner Museum will welcome residents and visitors alike this June with a full lineup of exhibitions, workshops, wellness events, and summer programming designed to celebrate creativity, history, and community engagement in downtown St. Augustine.
Alex Devereux: The American Traveler
June 5
The month begins during St. Augustine’s First Friday Art Walk with Alex Devereux’s latest exhibition which explores themes of travel, freedom, and the American experience through imagery inspired by highways, roadside Americana, neon signs, and fading architecture. Devereux examines how movement and exploration continue to shape the nation’s cultural identity, drawing inspiration from symbols like Route 66 and the mythology of the open road. The reception will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Guests may enter through the Radzinski Garden behind the museum, where refreshments will be served. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view the museum’s current exhibition, A Moment in Time: America 250 | Plein Air Paintings from America’s First Coast, which commemorates the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States through regional artwork.
Sit + Sketch: Figure Drawing with Martha Ferguson
June 11
The museum will continue its community-focused programming with this workshop inviting participants to sketch sculptures from the museum’s permanent collection while learning observational drawing techniques in a relaxed environment. Local artist Martha Ferguson will guide the session from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Organizers encourage artists of all skill levels to participate. Yoga in the Garden
June 20
The Lightner Museum will host this yoga class from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the Trefry Family Green in the Radzinski Garden. The donation-based class welcomes participants of all experience levels and offers a peaceful way for residents to begin their weekend in the heart of downtown St. Augustine. Guests should bring water, a yoga mat or towel, and any preferred yoga props.
Watercolor Workshop: Seashells with Erin Hellmann
June 25
Later in the month, the museum will present a watercolor workshop led by artist Erin Hellmann on Thursday, June 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. During the session, participants will paint seashells while learning foundational watercolor techniques, including layering, blending, and brushwork. The workshop welcomes beginners and experienced artists alike, and all supplies will be provided. Admission costs $40 for the public and $20 for museum members, you can register for the workshop here.
Blast From the Past
June 15 – 18
In addition to its public events, the Lightner Museum has opened registration for its 2026 summer camp series. The first camp session runs June 15 through June 18 for children ages 6 through 11. The program will immerse campers in interactive activities inspired by different historical eras while encouraging creativity and exploration throughout the museum. Registration costs $100 per child, or $75 for museum members. You can find registration here.
