August is National Sandwich Month, and one local restaurant is giving sandwich fanatics plenty of chances to celebrate. Donovan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant is marking the occasion with free sandwiches, daily giveaways and lunch specials throughout the month, beginning with complimentary sandwiches for the first 25 guests on August 4th.
The month-long celebration begins Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11 a.m. with a special dine-in giveaway featuring sandwiches from Donovan’s menu. Complimentary sandwiches will be available while supplies last, and guests can purchase fries, chips, cabbage, beverages or other menu items separately.
Throughout August, guests can enter for a chance to win a free sandwich each day by signing up for Donovan’s email newsletter through the restaurant’s website. Everyone who subscribes is automatically entered into the daily giveaway, with winners announced by email and on Donovan’s Facebook page.
“National Sandwich Month is a great opportunity to highlight some of our guests’ favorite lunch menu items,” owner Jareb Dougherty said. “From our classic Reuben to our wraps, clubs and homemade specialties, sandwiches have always been a big part of what we do. We wanted to create something fun for our regular guests while introducing new people to Donovan’s.”
The promotion also highlights some of Donovan’s most popular sandwiches. Guests can choose from favorites like the Corned Beef Reuben, piled with corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing, or the Turkey Club loaded with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and cheese. Other menu favorites include the homemade Meatball Sub, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, French Dip, Chicken Caesar Wrap, Chicken Salad Sandwich and the Corned Beef Rachel.
Guests looking for an affordable lunch can also take advantage of Donovan’s weekday lunch specials during National Sandwich month, served daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with menu options starting at $10.99. A customer favorite is the Half Sandwich & Soup Special for $12.99, which includes a choice of a half Reuben, Rachel, BLT or grilled cheese paired with a cup of beer cheese soup, creamy tomato basil soup or chili.
Founded in 2008, Donovan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant has become a neighborhood gathering place in the Palencia community, serving traditional Irish fare alongside American comfort-food favorites. Purchased in 2014 by mother-and-son team Kristin and Jareb Dougherty, the locally owned restaurant is also known for its live music, weekly trivia and bingo nights, as well as Sunday brunch and annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
