In February the Limelight Theatre is celebrating love (and laughing at it) with the production of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, With a delightfully real-life twist, the show is directed by married couple Daniel and Heather Starling, proving that nothing says romance like co-directing a musical about dating disasters, commitment and communication mishaps. Their own marriage brings a layer of authenticity (and probably a few inside jokes) to a show that thrives on recognizing ourselves in love’s messiest moments. “Being married while directing a musical about love, compromise and miscommunication has made this production especially meaningful — and even funnier.” Onstage, a dynamic ensemble including Facia Lee, Mitchell Wohl, Emily Layt and Noah Peacock plays dozens of characters, sprinting from first dates to long-term love through a series of fast-paced, witty vignettes. This off-Broadway favorite remains beloved for its smart humor and uncanny relatability.
