The Florida Skimboarding Pro/Am is the second longest running professional and third longest running amateur skimboarding tournament in the World and it returns in full force this year and Vilano Beach will once again proudly host the event from Friday, August 25 through Sunday, August 27, 2017. The event is family friendly and will span the entire weekend from sunrise to sunset.

The tournament will feature both pro and amateur divisions. Anyone is welcome to join in or watch as the top ranking athletes from around the world gather. Skimboarding athletes come from more than 75 different beaches from all over Florida, the USA, and the World.

For those unfamiliar with skimboarding, it is best to imagine a middle ground between skateboarding and surfing. The board is shorter and loses the fins of its surfing relative, but it allows for more control as skimboarders start from the beach, build up momentum, make their way onto incoming waves, and ride their way back.

Online registration for the event is now available. Age groups 8 and under and 9-11 are $40 and all other age groups (professional and amateur) are $50. Registration ends on August 22.

The Pro/Am is an end of summer bash, one last hurrah for surf lovers of all ages. Whether it is competition, a relaxing time at the beach, or a fun weekend with the family the 23rd Annual Skimboarding Pro/Am Tournament is sure to impress.

The tournament runs from August 25-27. For more information or to register for the competition, visit www.rundropslide.com/flproam.
