Bluegrass Band “ClusterPluck” Performing Tonight at DOS Coffee and Wine

The best holiday celebrations always include music. With this in mind, the “ClusterPluck: The ChristmaChannuKwanSolsiMas Version,” this Friday, Dec. 11 promises a plucking good time. This bluegrass holiday “old-time, folky sing-and-play-along” event will be held from 7-10pm at DOS Coffee and Wine, 300 San Marco.

This is a free event, and “worth every penny,” jokes organizer Tommy Bledsoe. The title reflects the group’s desire to include, and respect, all the holidays happening this time of year. From traditional Christmas carols, to Hanukah tunes, to Solstice songs – you never know what may be picked and plucked, strummed and sung at this improvisational jam session.

“That’s what I like about it,” Bledsoe said. “We have a core group of about a half-dozen musicians, but it is an open community gathering. You never know who will show up. It is what it becomes. That’s the nature of it.”

The intent is to brighten the dark winter nights with hopeful, happy songs. While this is the only December meeting of the “ClusterPluck,” the group usually meets several times a month for open jam sessions.

Bluegrass musicians are welcome to sit in, but appreciative audience members are encouraged, too. Wine, beer, coffee, desserts and menu items are available during the merry music making night. It’s sure to be a plucking good time.
