It’s been rumored that, when I was a kid, I may have been occasionally guilty of standing in front of a mirror with a hair-brush microphone, singing badly at the top of my lungs along with whatever song happened to be blaring from the AM radio we had. One day, I’d convinced myself, I would flex my inner Robert Plant or Billy Joel or Steven Tyler and entertain the masses. I would be a star. I suspect I’m not the only person who ever did that.
Like dreams will sometimes do, though, that one never came to fruition, and you’re probably nodding your head in agreement as you recall your own unrealized stardom. You, too, never had your shot at entertaining the masses with your sultry vocal stylings.
Well, fear not. Fear not, for we have karaoke.
While they may not be Madison Square Garden or Caesar’s Palace, plenty of bars and restaurants in St. Augustine offer karaoke, and you can find someplace to sing seven nights a week should the mood strike you. And, even if you don’t sing, you just might be surprised by the level of talent lurking in this town.

Scarlett O’Hara’s
There are worse places to spend a Monday night singing at the top of your lungs and, hey, the food’s pretty good, too! The fun starts at 9pm at 70 Hypolita Street downtown.
The British Pub
You can find karaoke here, complete with lights, lasers and one serious sound system seven nights a week. They’re located at 213 Anastasia Boulevard, just across the Bridge Of Lions.
Arnold’s Lounge
You have two options here, Monday and Thursday. Go early on Thursday for Arnold’s legendary $12.50 steak night (who doesn’t like a tasty ribeye?) and stay for the festivities with host Mr. Natural. The karaoke kicks off at 7:30pm and runs late into the evening. Arnold’s is located at 3912 N. Ponce de Leon Avenue.
Mardi Gras Sports Bar
With a kitchen that’s open daily until midnight, celebrate Hump Day at Mardi Gras Sports Bar, at 123 San Marco Avenue. DJ Rob will dial up your favorite I-wanna-be-a-rock-star song starting at 9pm every Wednesday night.
Fly By Cafe
End your weekly singing career at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport just north of town on Highway 1. The karaoke starts at 6:00 pm and runs until 9:00pm every Friday night.
