It’s no secret why dogs are called “man’s best friend” – companionship, love, protection, play. But there are a few things we can offer our furry friends in return–namely a safe, secure, and loving home. Some lucky puppies get these homes from birth, but others have to come by them later in life. That’s where Swamp Haven Rescue comes in.

Local shelters do not always have the room nor the resources to house all the abandoned animals and the limited means leads to a painful number of death row dogs. Begun in January of 2015, Swamp Haven Rescue takes in these death row dogs and provides their veterinary care, takes them to a trainer, enters them in doggy day care, and prepares them fully to be adopted by a loving family.

The limited resources, however, that plague the local shelters afflict the non-profit Swamp Haven as well. The rescue is entirely foster based, meaning they do not have a central office or kennel in which to house their rescued pets. That’s where you come in. Swamp Haven Rescue now has three puppies and four to five adult dogs in need of foster families.
All the foster family needs to offer is love and care – Swamp Haven rescue provides for all food and veterinary service. Give the kids some summer responsibility and take in a friend who is in need of a little affection.
