Are Jet Boats the Best Boats for Cruising in St. Augustine

Like any good St. Augustinian without a boat, I am always considering the pro’s and con’s of owning a “wooden hole in the water, which I cast money into.”  So the first question is, how will I use this machine.  I’d love to say serious fishing with occasional family cruises.  My reality is more like, occasional family cruises, which is awesome too. In considering the options, I’m left with few standard choices.  An inboard, outboard or inboard/outboard.  All of them are fun and games, until you “misjudge” the tide, current, wind, depth, bottom contour, etc. and your left with $200-$2,000 in immediate or eventual repair.

In steps the Jet Boat.  It’s basically a giant jet ski, which stands to reason it can accommodate a fair amount of punishment with the least amount of damage.  Theres no denying Yamaha makes a sweet ride these days.

Yamaha Jet Boat

There certainly is a stigma about the jet boats of yesterday, but I’m not seeing much shame in the Jet Boat game at the moment.
