Thanks to a $3.5 million dollar allocation from the Freedom First budget signed by Governor DeSantis and backed by key advocates, Alpha-Omega Miracle Home (AOMH) will be able to continue their mission of housing single mothers, their children and senior women facing homelessness with a brand new campus.
The AOMH housing program provides shelter, support and hope to single/expectant mothers, their children and senior women with support services that serve as a bridge to help mothers transition out of poverty. Senior women are given the opportunity to become surrogate grandmothers and mentors in a caring and collaborative environment and AOMH provides community services designed to help local families who are experiencing economic distress. The funds from the Freedom First Allocation will allow them to break ground in the next 90 days and complete all of the required horizontal infrastructure for the new campus. AOMH hopes that with additional funding from the community, the vertical improvements (i.e. apartments, dorms, etc.) on the campus will begin in 12 to 18 months. The total estimated budget for the project is $14 million.
When completed, the new campus will include 20 two-bedroom apartments, 12 efficiency apartments, and 6 dormitory style rooms, housing up to 100 residents, and will help provide affordable housing and comprehensive support services in the area through the AOMH’s Programs. There will also be a community care center which will have the main administrative offices for AOMH as well as rooms for therapy, life skills, case management, an auditorium, and a kitchen.
