FOR THE KIDS
Treats are a Halloween tradition, but some of this year’s seasonal kids activities offer more than just sweets. These tours offer family-friendly ghost stories, costumes contests, and fun explorations of mysterious trails.
Florida’s Haunted Trails at the Agriculture Museum – October 29, 30, 31
Magic shows, carnival games and a haunted house are all included in this family-friendly Halloween event. Take a spooky wagon ride through the woods at night, or spot a headless horseman on the grounds of the Florida Agriculture Museum. Costumes are welcome, and a variety of food and drink will be available for purchase. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes! The haunted trails are open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on October 30 and 31. Admission is $15 for adults and $12 for kids under 12, and children under 5 are free.

Candlelight Trail Walk at Bulow Ruins – October 30
Talk to the ghosts of Bulow’s past at the 1st annual Candlelight Trail Walk. Former soldiers, settlers, and Seminole Indians are a few of the characters haunting the grounds, looking to tell their stories to guests. Kids activities and a costume contest are also a part of the night’s festivities, and refreshments will be available for purchase. Event goes from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. A $5 vehicle donation will be collected, and proceeds will go to the Bulow Parks Historic Alliance.

St. Augustine’s Halloween Tour – October 30-31
Put on by the Tasting Tour, this Halloween special is a mecca of frightening tales about the afterlife. Plague, pirates, Indian settlers and the haunts of the Flagler hotels are only some of the stories told on this thought-provoking exploration of the nation’s oldest city. Tours start at 7:15 p.m. on both October 30 and 31. Tickets are $19 for adults and $14 for children under 12. Advance registration is required.

Trick-or-Treat Off-the-Street – October 31
Round up the little ones and head over to the St. Augustine Outlets for some treats! Stop by the information center on the way in to receive Halloween goodies, a list of participating stores and complimentary VIP coupon book. Trick-or-treating goes from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Ripley’s Trick-or-Treat Train – October 31
Trick-or-treat this year Ripley’s-style. The train departs from Ripley’s Believe It or Not at 5:30 p.m. and stops at four locations, and ends at Bayfront Mini golf. There, guests get to play a game of “Ghoulie Golf,” and enjoy candy and prizes. Wallace and Gromit The Curse of the Ware Rabbit will be screened at 7 p.m, at the City Municipal Marina. Tickets are $9 and children are $5.

For those who want to be terrified or just looking for a good time on the scariest night of the year, these local festivities are the place to be.
The Scream Park at Clay County Fairgrounds – weekends through October 31
Now in it’s 13th year, the professional team behind Scream Park brings a unique Halloween experience to Clay County. Located just 20 minutes south of Jacksonville, the Scream Park has three indoor haunted houses, midway rides, food vendors and music. The Scream Park is 5 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and select Thursdays and Sundays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $45. This event is not for children under ten, and those who scare easily should be accompanied by a parent.

Warehouse 31 Unleashed – weekends through November 1
Fright addicts, this one’s for you: Warehouse 31 presents the largest indoor haunted house in North Florida. The Torture Chambers, Asylum, and the Eradication are three of the terrifying
attractions, not meant for the faint of heart. Guests who get too scared will be escorted out, but not without receiving a coupon for adult diapers! The attraction is opened from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays, and from 7 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission ranges from $25 to $35. This event is not recommended for children under 13.

Dead Oscars Halloween Party at Ann O’Malley’s – October 31
Ann O’Malley’s invites guests to their annual Halloween party, featuring a costume contest, live music, food and drinks. This year’s theme is Dead Oscars: contest participants should come dressed as any actor or character who is deceased, either in real life or in a film. Judging begins at midnight, and the winner will receive a $100 bar tab.

Hall of Terror at Palm Coast Hall – October 29 through 31
The Palm Coast Fire Departments holds the 14th Annual Hall of Terror, this year under the theme of the Carnival of Carnage. Opening night is suitable for most children of age 8, but Friday and Saturday only children of at least 10 years of age are encouraged. Event goes from 7 p.m to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 7 p.m to 10 p.m. on October 30 and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on October 31. Admission to this event is free.
