For the fourth year in a row, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is collaborating with The Walt Disney Company to help fund local park improvement projects across the country through the national “Meet Me at the Park” Earth Month campaign. The city or county that receives the most nominations will receive a $20,000 grant.
Parks are the cornerstone of nearly every community. They connect kids with nature, promote healthy living and provide access to sports. That’s why from now through April 30, St. Johns County residents will have the opportunity to nominate our park system to receive $20,000 in grant funding to create City to Sea. City to Sea will be a new educational program aimed at creating opportunities for the underserved youth of our county to take day trips to the beach and learn about water safety.
By visiting NRPA.org/Disney, park supporters can nominate St. Johns County Parks and Recreation’s City to Sea program. At the end of April, the city or county with the most nominations will receive the grant funding. Everyone who nominates will be entered into a drawing for a GoPro Prize Pack.
“With a growing population, a thriving park system in our county is as important as ever,” said Billy Zeits, Assistant Director of St. Johns County Parks and Recreation Department. “The natural beauty and diverse ecosystems that we all get to enjoy increase our quality of life and bring numerous benefits to our residents. We’re asking everyone to take a few minutes to nominate St. Johns County for the ‘Meet Me at the Park’ Earth Month campaign.”
Voting is open and concludes at 11:59 p.m. ET on April 30, 2018. No purchase necessary to participate. The NRPA Meet Me at the Park Promotion and Voter’s Sweepstakes (collectively, “promotions”) are open to legal residents of the 50 US & DC, who are 18 years of age or older. For complete details and Official Rules for both promotions, visit www.meetmeatthepark.org.
