Thousands of St. Johns County kids face hunger every day. So SOUPer Bowl V and all-volunteer nonprofit Hugs Across the County hosts the event each year in an effort to support food programs for St. Johns County kids. Dozens of popular restaurants will once again bring tastings of popular soups, chowders, and stews to this always-fun community event. All proceeds from the event benefit needy students, so it’s a delicious way to support a great cause! SOUPer Bowl V will take place at Nease High School on Thursday, January 30 from 6-8pm.
Already feeling hungry? Check out the starting lineup for the event:
Allen D. Nease High School has a long tradition of students working to end hunger. Nease students run a program where they purchase food, pack it into weekend amounts, and deliver it to other St. Johns County schools for food-insecure students. Since 2016, this program has been funded with proceeds from the SOUPer Bowl. The SOUPer Bowl has been adopted as the annual service project for the junior class in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. These students, and students from the Career Academies at Nease, devote hundreds of hours to promoting and working the SOUPer Bowl.
Hugs partners with St. Johns County schools to identify food insecure students and assists by stocking food pantries at school, sending home weekend nourishment, and providing bags of food to cover long holiday breaks.
Tickets are $25 and your donation will go to food programs that benefit St. Johns County kids-in-need throughout the school year. The website allows online donations as well, which will go directly to the purchase of much-needed non-perishable food items. Online tickets sales will close at midnight on Wednesday, January 29, but you can still purchase tickets at the door.
