Join the Lightner Museum on Thursday, July 26, 2018, from 6 to 8pm for an evening of enlightening conversation, exceptional music by local group Ramona, and a special art exhibit! July’s Lightner After Hours event will showcase artists from around Florida who participated in the museum’s “Promenade the Alcazar” art contest. During the evening, the winner of the contest will be announced and presented with a $1,000 check, and guests can vote for their favorite artwork.
Approximately 50 artists participated in the museum’s first art contest, “Promenade the Alcazar.” The winner’s artwork (selected by museum staff) will be used as a showcase piece of artwork for the museum’s upcoming anniversary event on October 19, 2018. The museum will be celebrating its 70th anniversary and the 130th anniversary of the Alcazar Hotel.
Contestants’ artwork will be on display on the museum’s mezzanine level from July 25 – July 30, 2018. The mezzanine level is free to the public by entering the Café’ Alcazar doors on either Granada or Cordova Streets. The doors are open from 11am to 4pm.
A “People’s Choice Award” will be given to the artwork which receives the most votes. Visitors may vote throughout the week. The “People’s Choice Award” winner will receive two tickets ($150 value) to the museum’s anniversary event, “Promenade the Alcazar,” on October 19, 2018.
Local musician, Ramona, will perform for guests.
This event is free and open to the public. Donations are requested for beverages. Guests may enter through the Cordova or Granada Street entrances by the Café Alcazar. Entrances will be clearly marked.
