The beauty and architecture of our fair city is nearly unmatched throughout the country. So with such a historic aesthetic right at our fingertips, it’s no surprise that the St. Augustine fashion world is ablaze. For the fifth season, St. Augustine Fashion Week is back in the Ancient City, showing off the talents of local designers and exploring international trends. St. Augustine’s most glamorous week kicks off on March 2 with The Lounge at the St. Augustine Outlets and continues through the weekend with VIP Kickoff Party on Wednesday then three more nights of local fashion.
But all this doesn’t just happen. There are many creative minds behind the magic, bringing you the best and newest trends. So in order for you to get acquainted with what’s coming up in March, we’re going to introduce you to the designers (in no particular order) that are making St. Augustine Fashion Week the must-attend event that it is.
ERIN HEALY
Erin’s signature look conveys classic couture with an updated edge and a focus on rare, highly textured fabrics. Staples of her collections have ranged from flowing, beach-friendly sundresses to leg-baring cocktail ensembles on to dramatic, floor-length gowns that turn heads and make lasting impressions.
LINEN + WAVES
Evoking the feeling of coastal living and the warmth of Southern hospitality, Linen + Waves is your expert on pretty and light beachwear and coastal casual must-haves. And they can dress anyone from the littles to the mamas and all in between.
FULANI HANDBAGS
Fulani takes an ancient pattern and makes it contemporary again. When designing, Souadou Barry likes to keep the collection simple with elegant lines to complement the eclectic fabric insert she uses. Soft leather frame and luxury hardware give it a contemporary touch while the craftsmanship makes it timeless.
GATSBY IN THE GARDEN
In preparation for one of the city’s most stylish charitable events, Sway DiFeo has launch a breathtaking line of floral, Gatsby-inspired digs that we wish we could wear every single day. They’re vintage and stunning, and they make you want to do the Charleston with Nick Carraway. Get ready, Old Sport.
SHORT DOG JEWELRY DESIGN
Short Dog came about after years of making things for other people who would smile when they opened a gift, or someone who requested something special, or if Sara Leplante just felt like giving. And we’re glad she’s giving her beautiful jewelry to the public now.
GEE JEWELRY
Made by Shannon Rose Greene and used for the designer as a step toward healing, these pieces are for the real oh gees out there. These handmade modern accessories are sleek and simple, but they still make a serious statement. A statement that says, “I’m elegant but still a little edgy.”
OVERALLY AWESOME
What can we say about Overally Awesome? Well the name itself practically says it all. They’re the kind of pieces that you’d want to wear when you’re ready to stand out and make a statement. Crazy fabrics, retro silhouettes – perfect for the fashionista who isn’t afraid to be bold.
MAHINA SWIMWEAR
Inspired purely by the aloha of Hawaii and made for girls whose lifestyle consists of positive vibes and who love spending time under the sun, Mahina Swimwear was designed to bring empowerment and comfort. All the swimwear is handmade and – if we do say so ourselves – pretty adorable.
EARTH MONTH BOUTIQUE BY PANACHE
They’re the looks inspired by the beloved local Love Your Mother Eco Fashion Show. Made from recycled materials, these show-stopping outfits are unforgettable and totally in tune with nature. Explore the possibilities of earth-conscious design.
RESIS-DENTZ
Dentz Denim has this season’s hottest trends in high waisted denim shorts, off-the-shoulder slouchy tees, and plenty more for those stylish people who want something a little off the beaten path. Their edgy and unusual clothing helps any wearer stand out from the crowd.
