School is back in session, and that means it’s time to get back to regularly scheduled routines. Packing lunches, carpool, and yes, even date nights! Date night is crucial no matter how busy the calendar is; it’s important to take a little bit of time out each week for each other and have some fun away from the kiddos. If you’re looking for something to do instead of your same old dinner-and-a-movie kind of evening, then explore the city for something new. From peaceful picnics to kayaking the Intracoastal, these activities are the perfect way to shake up your schedule.
Pack a picnic
We know it’s hard to start packing those lunches again now that school is back in session, but while you’re at it, why not just pack one more? Grab a few of you and your partner’s favorite things and head for a picnic. Spend a day or evening out in nature and enjoy the bustle of our town from a distance. If you don’t feel like cooking or packing your meal yourself then grab a to-go order from your favorite spot around town. Make the climb to the top of the St. Augustine Lighthouse
If you’re feeling active on date night, then why not take a climb to the top of the lighthouse for a date that gets you moving, and gives you a great view! You’ve probably been too busy lately to truly appreciate our city from this angle, and even if you’ve been to the top before, nothing is quite like this view. Get in touch with your inner child for a round of mini-golf – dinner on the loser!
Date night is more fun when you let loose and do things that make you smile, so why not spend an evening playing put-put for a little healthy competition? Have a progressive dinner date
Sometimes, a classic dinner date and night on the town is all we need. So enjoy the best of both worlds with a progressive night out. This will give you the chance to visit all your favorite spots in town for each course. Start your evening by grabbing some tapas or appetizers, before heading out to dinner, and grab after-dinner drinks before ending your night with something sweet. It’s like getting four dates in one!
Slow down on the water with a sunset kayak tour
St. Augustine is home to more than just beautiful beaches. We also happened to have some stunning waterways. If you make the drive a little ways down A1A to Marineland, you’ll find Ripple Effect Eco Tours, a local kayak and boat tour company. Their sunset kayak tour will take as few as two people, so grab your SO and explore the Intracoastal in the peaceful evening air.
