Spring is definitely running season in St. Augustine. Organizations and communities throughout the area are coming together for 5Ks, 10Ks, and fun runs to raise money, awareness, or even just for the love of running. So if you’re ready to enjoy the spring sunshine and get a little fresh air in your lungs, join a group at the starting line of one of St. Augustine’s spring races.
Lighthouse 5k
St. Augustine Lighthouse
March 3, 4:30pm
Flat 3.1 miles through historic Lighthouse Park and Davis Shores neighborhood. Visitors will run/walk through the beautiful lighthouse park that is located just across the street from the St. Augustine Lighthouse. The annual Night Fest celebration will follow the race. Admission to the St. Augustine Lighthouse will be free from 4 to 8:30pm, and visitors are invited to tour the historic lighthouse and grounds, enjoy live music, and participate in other free family activities. Concessions will be available for purchase. No RSVP or tickets needed to participate in Night Fest.

Vilano Bridge 5K and 10K
Vilano Beach Community Center

The Vilano Bridge 5K and 10k run/walk route takes runners through the Vilano Beach community, across the Vilano Bridge with views of the Intracoastal and beaches, and includes routes through Porpoise Point. The race finishes at the Community Park where there will be a post-race celebration. Day-of registration is $45 and $35 for the 10K and 5K respectively.

What a better way to start Saint Patrick’s Day on the right foot! Join us for a friendly 5k that leaves Brucci’s Pizza in the shops of Murabella Crossing and returns to Brucci’s for an after party. Each participant 21 or older get a free draft beer after they finish and a slice of pizza. Brucci’s will be giving away prizes of gift certificates, JTF racing will also be giving away fun door prizes as well.

Hosted by and benefitting Mill Creek Elementary School, Wards Creek Elementary School, Pacetti Bay Middle School, and Picolatta Elementary School, this 5K race is one that even the most avid runners will enjoy. The purpose of this event is to increase community involvement and support in student learning, to bring awareness to health & fitness, and to raise needed funds for technology and educational enhancements in the classrooms.

Spud Run
Hastings Community Building

Benefitting the Putnam-St. Johns County Farm Bureau, the annual Spud Run consists of a 10K and 5K course as well as a one-mile fun run for kids. Funds for the event will go towards programs and opportunities for agricultural education, such as Future Farmers of America, Farm City Week, and 4-H. Registration is $70 for the half marathon, $35 for the 5K, and free for the Cabbage Crawl Fun Run.

Sponsored by the Nocatee Community, the 2nd Annual Apryle Showers 10K benefits the Apryle Shower Foundation, a non-profit organization serving individuals ages 30 to 55 who are currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Held on an open 6.2-mile route which makes for excellent running conditions, the race is billed as “Florida’s Fastest 10K.” Registration ranges from $35-$50.

Betty Griffin Center Run for Peace

Wind through the beautiful St. Augustine Beach neighborhoods and along scenic A1A in this gorgeous race for a good cause. Proceeds from this race benefit The Betty Griffin House, the mission of which is to end domestic and sexual violence. The race will begin and end at the St. Augustine Beach Pier and awards will be given to the top three finishers in multiple age groups.

University of St. Augustine

A 5K Run/Walk supporting the 50 million Americans suffering from an autoimmune disease, 5 for the 50 supports both the Lupus Foundation of America and the AARDA. Race director Jimmie was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis at the age of 22, so the former beneficiary is very close to his heart. The race day entry fee is $30. There will be awards for the top three finishers in 15 age categories.
